Another month has passed, time for the Bloom Fine Art post again. I am so excited for SPRING!!!! It is so nice to be able to shed the layers of winter and to get outside and shoot again. The stars aligned for this session, perfect weather, perfect model and heavenly light.

Mr Grasso Celebrates his 85th! Susan Grace Photography-South Jersey Event Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing Mr. Grasso’s surprise birthday party last week at Tomasello’s Winery in Hammonton, NJ. Anthony was celebrating his 85th birthday and his friends and family planned this wonderful party complete with complimentary bottles of blueberry wine and a roving accordion player (playing tunes reminiscent of Italy). Mr. Grasso is a life long Hammonton resident who maintains a thriving blueberry farm and the only remaining peach orchard in this town. Hammonton is known for their blueberries, but if you have never tasted a ripe, juicy, jersey peach…well then-you are completely missing out on one of God’s gifts. Mr. Grasso has a smile that lights up the room and he is well loved by his fun-loving family. I had such a great time photographing this event. Hope you enjoy the images that follow.

March 2013-Ignite A Fine Art Discovery

Spring is just around the corner, but seems so far away. It has been a mild, but very grey and dreary winter here. For this month’s Bloom Fine Art Challenge, I am posting an image that I shot exactly this time last year on a morning walk. It was a much earlier spring last year. This image gives me hope for sunny days Looking forward to viewing what the rest of this group is sharing this month. It will bring a smile to my face and warm my heart, just what the doctor ordered.

I have been dreaming of doing a photo shoot at/in the fountain at Logan’s Circle in Philadelphia for many, many years. When I lived in Philadelphia (many years ago) I used to enjoy eating PB&J sandwiches in the fountain with a fellow photographer friend of mine. My daughter, Eve has done the same thing with her friends while in the city studying art. So it was only fitting that I took her along for this one.

Yes, I think she is beautiful so forgive me for the over-share. Believe it or not, she dislikes being photographed. In fact, all my children run and hide when the see my camera. However, we truly had a good time during this session. It was fun, silly, artsy and a bit daring.

I have started making inspiration boards for my clients. I love customizing each session to fit the personality and the interests of those that I photograph. Below is the inspiration board for the images that will follow.

Anxiously awaiting spring. The temperatures are slowly rising and the days are getting longer (yey!). Last month was pretty much a grey month. However, on the upside, we did experience fog early in the mornings. I LOVE photographing fog. These images below were taken 0.5 miles from my home at the local park. I adore how fog transforms an ordinary scene into something magical. Hope you enjoy them.

12 Feelings in 2013-Love

I had 3 session’s planned this month that were canceled do to inclement weather and other small details. I really wish I could have produced something new, but I had to reach into the archives for this month.

I had the pleasure of photographing my first wedding this fall, Patrick and Melessa. Mel’s father was the sweetest cowboy I ever met. He looked after her all day, with love and pride in his eyes. This image just about kills me.

These two are lucky to be “loved” this much!

January Ignite, A Creative Discovery

Ignite, 2013

Wow! I am very happy to belong to this blog circle again this year. There are so many talented photographers in this group and I look forward to catching a glimpse of their world and seeing what moves them and how they are pushed creatively.

I am challenging myself this year to participate in more monthly challenges. This is a big step for me, experimenting and learning to trust myself, but most of all to enjoy the process. Sometimes (well often-heehee) I feel overwhelmed trying to come up with “fine art.” Those that know me know that I have a hard time settling on one idea or thought. There are so many photographic projects that I want to try, I have a hard time picking/doing one. Like a dear in the headlights…Anyway…I belong to a local photographers club and the theme for the challenge this month was to recreate a book or a movie title. Theme, I can do that.

I had another set of images, that I deemed safe, “ART” as back up, Fog on the lake. However, I am feeling whimsical today, so enjoy “Little Red Riding Hood” instead. Oh, okay..and this image is of my daughter (my greatest work of art ever who loves to dress in costume), my muse who will be leaving for college soon

Engagement Session at a winery in South Jersey-Rich + Sarah

What a cute couple! I am lucky enough to know Sarah personally. She is a member of the Hammonton Green Committee of which I served as Chair person for 3 years. Sarah was always there to get the job done voluntarily with passion and zeal. She is full of creative ideas and has a good heart. Rich is head over heels in love with her. And rightfully so. We had fun during this session (and it wasn’t because of the wine, I swear, the gnats enjoyed it more than us).

Looking forward to photographing their wedding in September of 2013!

South Jersey Wedding at Atsion Lake-Pat + Mel

Patrick and Melessa were married on Sept. 29th, 2012. Pat admits that when he met Mel, his life changed. The two were inseparable from the moment they met. The love these 2 share oozes from these photos. They are beautiful people and I consider myself lucky to have recorded this day for them. The wedding took place in Atsion Lake, Atsion NJ, where Pat was a lifeguard throughout High School. We had about 30 minutes after the ceremony to cross the street and take photos at this sweet remains of a mansion. Incredible day.
